Vinted Members Express Displeasure About Size Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all users about the change.
Social Media Reaction
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category versus the original listing because of the remapping.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches similar services.
They have suggested members to examine their items and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Updates
Previously, the sizes had both one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, from Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Required Changes
A different user, located in England, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Platform Context
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: last year, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options following member complaints.
